Eric Jeffery is an aspiring pro motocross rider from Oshawa, Canada who rides for the Redemption Racing team. He spent the winter at Clubmx preparing for the Canadian Nationals. I took a few minutes to catch up with him about his preparation and outlook for his sophomore campaign as a pro.

Tell me a little bit about yourself.

I am 20 years old and am riding the Canadian Pro National series in the MX2 class. I have been racing for 12 years and my family has been behind me and supported me every step of the way. Without them I wouldn't be where I am today.

What kid of results have you gotten the past few years?

My last year as an amateur I got 2nd overall in 450 Intermediate. My first year in pro last year went pretty well. My best overall finish was 14th overall, which I got at 2 rounds of the series and my best moto finish is a 12th. Last year was a great learning year as my rookie season.

What are your goals in Canada this summer?

My goals this year in Canada is to get points every weekend. I am aiming to be around the top ten and if I get some good starts I think I can run inside the top ten.

What made you come to the US to train this year?

I came to the U.S this year because of the weather difference from Canada to the U.S unfortunately we cannot ride in the snow! Also we do not have any training facilities in Canada with credentials that are anywhere close to ClubMX. It is also great for me to ride and chase faster riders so that they can push me to be faster.

Do you think that living and training in the US has been beneficial to your riding?

Training in the U.S was definitely beneficial to my riding. I learned so much from Brandon, Zach and Chris at Clubmx that will stick with me throughout the season. Not only did I get faster and more aggressive in my riding, but they really helped me with being disciplined off of the track with the fitness and nutrition aspect.

Are you getting any help from any teams this summer?

This season I am with the same team as I was last year, Redemption racing, which is the only Christian racing team in Canada. We do a devotional after the riders meeting every weekend. We are a privateer team but we have help from sponsors such as FLY Racing, Hindle Exhaust, Jeffery Homes, Mainland Sand and Gravel, Boot trucking, Wild West Fencing, K&N; Filters, Hot Cams, Pivot Works and Vertex.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

One thing I would like to add is that my experience at ClubMx was so awesome, the companionship there between all the riders and staff is great, everyone is willing to help each other. I made so many new friends and I can't wait to go back to next year!!!
