Chesterfield, SC -February 27, 2012- ClubMX riders AJ Catanzaro, Phil Nicoletti, and Les Smith had a rough night in Atlanta. AJ was not able to qualify for the main event after running 2nd in the LCQ, while Phil was injured on the first lap of timed qualifying and unable to race. The highlight of the night was Les Smith's 14th place finish in the main event for the Ohlins KTM crew.

Catanzaro was able to get a great start in his heat race but was pushed outside early by Blake Baggett, after being forced outside he had no choice but to roll a jump and was landed on by another rider. In the LCQ, AJ was able to start in 3rd place but quickly moved into 2nd for the remainder of the race. On the last lap AJ made a mistake in the sand section and was passed for the final transfer position. Catanzaro made the following statement: "I was able to work on my starts all week and it showed in Atlanta, that gives me a lot of confidence. I just need to pull it all together and not make unnecessary mistakes in my heat races and I should be good."

Nicoletti's night was forgettable at best. On the first lap of timed qualifying his bike had a mechanical malfunction, which sent Phil over the bars in the last rhythm section before the finish line. The crash left Phil with a banged up knee, which rendered him unable to put in another qualifying lap to qualify for the night show. Luckily, the injury is not serious and Phil is back at ClubMX training to get ready for the St. Louis round.
