TFMW/Clubmx Continues Success in Atlanta

February 25 2014

Chesterfield, SC (February 24, 2014) – The second round of the 250 East Coast supercross series brought many highlights for the newly formed Factory Metal Works Team. Some of those highlights included team leader Vince Friese backing up last week’s 4th place finish with another strong performance and a 6th place overall. Friese is quietly positioning himself for a strong finish in the series points standings, as he now sits 5th place overall with 6 rounds of racing remaining on the schedule. Team rider Jace Owen rebounded from a disappointing series opener at Dallas to prove he has what it takes to compete with the best riders in the world. Jace inherited the 2nd heat race lead from Adam Cianciarulo and was able to earn some valuable experience leading the pack for several laps. Meanwhile, AJ Catanzaro is showing a consistent start to the series with back to back 13th place finishes. AJ is capable of much more and will be poised to earn top-5 finishes as the series continues.

The afternoon timed qualifying sessions went well for The Factory Metal Works Riders, with each able to post top 20 overall times. Leading the trio was Vince Friese with a 5th place overall time (54.17), followed by Jace Owen in 13th (55.26), and AJ Catanzaro in 20th position (56.55). Following qualifying practice, Heat 1 of the night program featured only Catanzaro, who was forced to the LCQ after a poor start and a 10th place finish in the qualifying race. Heat race 2 featured both Jace Owen and Vince Friese. After taking over the lead in the heat, Owen eventually was overcome by eventual race winner Martin Davalos. Unfortunately, Jace would finish the race in the 11th position after going down several times after leading the race. Friese would earn a transfer position with a 9th place in the heat following a mediocre start.
