The Factory Metal Works/Clubmx Indianapolis Report

Chesterfield, SC (March 2, 2014) - The third round of the 250 East Coast Championship showed more consistency from The Factory Metal Works/Clubmx race team. Once again, Vince Friese lead the team with his second consecutive 6th place finish despite running as high 3rd during the main event. Vince’s model of consistency this season has placed him firmly within the top-5 in points, just behind 4th place rider Blake Baggett. Vince has his sights set on earning several podiums before the season concludes. AJ Catanzaro, who took home a fourth place overall at Indy in 2013, could not continue the hot streak in 2014 but still brought home a 14th place finish by the nights end. Meanwhile, team rookie Jace Owen was able to continue his strong run of heat races starting last week with a 2nd place start behind Adam Cianciarulo once again. Owen would then go on to transfer directly to the main event through his heat race.

Going into timed qualifying, Jace Owen began the day well, leading the team with his 56.32 second lap time that was good for 9th place overall. Not far behind was Vince Friese in 12th (56.63) and AJ Catanzaro in the 14th position with a (57.176) leaving all 3 riders qualified top-15 overall. Following the timed qualifying sessions, Heat 1 of the 250 class featured both Catanzaro and Friese. After both riders suffered mid-pack starts they were able to settle in and transfer directly to the main even via 7th and 9th place finishes. Owen would also bring home a 7th place finish in the second heat race to go directly to the main event, where he spent the majority of the race battling arm pump on the extremely rough track.
