The Factory Metal Works/Clubmx Earns First Podium

Chesterfield, SC (April 29, 2014) – The inaugural round of supercross Metlife stadium in East Rutherford brought an abundance of success to the first-year Factory Metal Works team. Vince Friese, who has had an outstanding season thus far, was able to land the team it’s first ever podium appearance with a 3rd place overall. The career high finish was enough to launch Vince into a tie for 3rd place overall in the point standings with Blake Baggett and Adam Cianciarulo. With the series ending in a double race format in Vegas, Friese has an opportunity to gain enough points to catch the injured Martin Davalos by seasons end for 2nd overall in the series standings.

The team’s second rider, AJ Catanzaro had a decent night, considering he was landed on by another rider during his heat race and was forced to the LCQ. Despite significant pain, AJ muscled his way through the LCQ to finish third and transfer to the main event where he would eventually finish in the 13th position. Vince Friese was able to take 2nd place in heat race after clawing his way past several riders after about a 5th place start which gave him a great gate pick for the main event. Qualifying practice also went well for the team as Vince Friese was able to throw down a lap quick enough for 2nd place overall (56.02) behind the fastest qualifier Jeremy Martin. Catanzaro also posted a great time (58.77) which was good enough for 11th place overall in qualifying practice.
